PKN Bangor Goes Virtual

PKN Bangor Vol. 24 – February 2020 – Bangor Arts Exchange

In 2020 Launchpad became the official organizer for PechaKucha Night Bangor and held our first successful live event at the Bangor Arts Exchange in February.  For those who are unfamiliar with PechaKucha, (Japanese for “chit chat”) is a 20×20 format presentation of your 20 chosen images, each for 20 seconds. In other words, you’ve got 400 seconds to tell your story, with visuals guiding the way. It is a controlled creative convergence – where creatives; architects, artists, musicians, performers, idea activists and designers meet to share their ideas and showcase their work in a unique, high-energy format. This creative outlet began as nighttime get-togethers in Tokyo in 2003 by two renowned architects. Since then, three million people have attended PechaKucha events worldwide. Communities across the world participate in PechaKucha and we’re honored to be part of this global community of Creatives.

In an effort to bring PKN Bangor to as wide an audience as possible during current gathering restrictions due to COVID, we are virtually presenting upcoming PKN Bangor events into 2021. They will be free to watch with an opportunity for pay-what-you-like donation from viewers!

So, you heard it here first: we’re announcing our next four event dates and topics, including two themed dates as well as two PechaKucha Nights in our classic format to choose from! We are currently seeking Presenters for all dates!

Save the Dates:

Thursday, June 10 – PechaKucha Night Bangor – Vol. 25

Open submission deadline:  Friday, May 7

Friday, October 8 – PechaKucha Night Bangor – Vol. 26

Open submission deadline:  Friday, September 3

PechaKucha Night Bangor is a presentation event for creative people to showcase their work, accomplishments and ideas to the community. You will be asked below to submit a 2-3 sentence bio, title and description of your presentation, 3 – 5 sample images and your phone and email contact. This does not need to be your full presentation. Chosen presenters will be able to complete their presentations prior to PKN and typically due 10 days before the event.

The PechaKucha Bangor selection committee meets after the proposal deadline to review all presenter submissions and curate a diverse mix of presentations for each PechaKucha Night. Proposals may also be considered for a future event. All submitters will be notified of the decisions.

Production and organizing support for PKN Bangor is provided by Launchpad, a non-profit arts incubator dedicated to growing the Creative Economy in Maine.
