In the Spring of 2018 the Downtown Bangor Partnership, inspired by a similar project completed in Gardiner, Maine, launched a new public art project to help create vibrancy in the district and to promote public art. Three years later, in the face of restrictions due to COVID, the DBP began conversations with Launchpad to revive the project for 2021.
Launchpad worked to strengthen the project and create a sense sustainability. 13 artists were chosen from a group of over 50 submissions and installed at locations across the Downtown. The project theme of “unity” challenged artists of all backgrounds and experience levels to create pieces that elicit conversation and inspiration around uniting and connecting our community. Artwork will be up thru mid-October with the goal of new installations each spring.
