Today, The Grand and Launchpad announced a Strategic Collaboration to present local and live music in Ellsworth. The organizations will work together to launch a new live music series “Music at The Grand” featuring a year-long slate of diverse music performances including local and nationally touring artists. The series will feature a variety of genres and styles, with an emphasis on local and emerging performers.
“Live music is so important to Grand audiences and it’s a great place to experience live acts. This exciting partnership with Launchpad will introduce more great musicians to the Grand and Grand audiences to more great musicians,” said Nick Turner, Executive Director at The Grand.
A non-profit arts incubator based in Maine, Launchpad works to grow Maine’s Creative Economy by promoting Creative Placemaking projects and initiatives across the state. Its current projects include the annual All Roads Music Festival in Belfast, Maine, and the Bangor Arts Exchange – a new performing arts space in Bangor recently celebrating the completion of its first full year of operation. Other recent collaborations for Launchpad include partnerships with the Maine Academy of Modern Music, Ten Bucks Theatre and the Bangor Celtic Crossroads Festival.
“By collaborating with The Grand, Launchpad continues to serve its mission to grow the arts and Creative Economy in Maine,” said Launchpad Executive Director, Meg Shorette. “The Ellsworth community has shown a strong commitment to make the arts a cornerstone in its redevelopment and has established itself as a major arts hub for Central and Downeast Maine. The Grand has been the anchor for this growth in the region. We are particularly excited to be a part of this scene and showcase a wide variety of music artists working in and touring through the state.”
The series is slated to begin in early 2019 and further information will be released as performances are announced. You can learn more about events and purchase tickets at The Grand at grandonline.org
