JOB DESCRIPTION

Position: House Manager / Event Manager – Launchpad

Reports to: Managing Director 

Location: Bangor, ME (Bangor Arts Exchange)

Event Managers are responsible for assisting the Managing Director in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the space, assisting with after-hours events and coordination of musicians, artists, and rentals.  Their goal is to build the reputation of the venue by maintaining a friendly, clean, professional and accessible atmosphere for all visitors and artists. 

This role will include key responsibilIties such as: 

Events  – 

  • Assist in daily operations of the space by coordinating with the Managing Director to prepare and close down the space after assigned events and functions.
  • Oversee cleaning, maintenance & repairs of the Arts Exchange space
  • Set up for all events as needed as per the Event Checklist. Pre-check of any required video & sound equipment
  • Oversee event staff and prepare and assist them for event needs
  • Assist with bar & concessions operations as needed 
  • (you will be required to become certified to serve at the bar)
  • Comply with venue policies and procedures to ensure a safe environment
  • Complete “Event Report” and submit to the Managing Director
  • Be presentable and professional when interacting with all patrons

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Superior time management and organizational skills, with an ability to understand how live events come together
  • Strong customer service ability 
  • Confident, friendly, professional and comfortable with calling vendors
  • Ability to work autonomously in a startup environment
  • A personal desire for ongoing learning, continuous improvement and development
  • Self-motivation but love being part of a team
  • Possesses patience and perseverance
  • Ability to delegate when necessary
  • Be confident in sharing ideas with your team

Commitment & Compensation

  • This is a freelance, at-will position scheduled on an as needed basis, with an estimated commitment of 8 – 16 hours per week. 
  • The rate is $13.00 – $15.00 per hour (depending on event type)
  • Additional staffing hours may be offered for specific scheduled events
